The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) – Louisville Chapter is a professional organization dedicated to advancing women in the construction industry. Our chapter brings together women from all areas of construction, including commercial and residential construction, design, engineering, project management, skilled trades, safety, accounting, legal, and supplier partners.

From monthly meetings and jobsite tours to educational workshops and social events, our chapter creates opportunities to build confidence, expand knowledge, and form lasting connections.

As part of NAWIC, you also gain access to a national network of women who are shaping the construction industry across the country. Membership opens the door to broader resources, national initiatives, and the chance to learn from leaders beyond the Louisville area!   • Who is in NAWIC Louisville, KY | Southern IN?

    A welcoming, joyful group of women at all stages in their careers. Many of our members joined during our huge growth period in 2022/3 when we were recognized as the fastest growing Chapter in the nation! We have gals who work in the field, architects/engineers, developers, and everything in between. We’ve also got related fields like insurance, lawyers, fleet vendors, etc. The more varied types of industry women we can bring, the stronger our network!

  • How do I join NAWIC?

    The membership interface is managed by NAWIC National, so you’ll join there and select the Louisville Chapter as your “home” affiliate. Set up a user to begin. https://nawic.users.membersuite.com/auth/portal-login?isSignUp=true

  • What information do I need to apply?

    A sample of the membership application can be found at the following link. Knowing the NAICS code for your company’s type of work is the only tricky question. We promise!

  • What type of NAWIC membership should I select?
    There are many types, including retired and student, but we’ll focus on the most common memberships: Active, Corporate, and Associate. Active is the typical membership for women “who are actively employed in the construction industry a minimum of an average of twenty (20) hours per week.” Active members ($310 annually) are eligible to vote and hold office. This membership is tied to the individual, regardless of employer. The Corporate membership ($410) is similarly a full membership with all entitlements, only this is transferrable. A company may move the membership from one representative to another. This allows multiple people to try out NAWIC, although not concurrently. Finally, an Associate Membership ($325) is more suitable for women outside the fields of construction, but in related industries, e.g. insurance, marketing, HR services. These members may NOT vote or hold office.

  • Why should I join NAWIC?

    NAWIC provides Career Growth, Industry Resources, Advocacy, and Connectivity to our more than 6,000 members and 120+ chapters nationwide. Membership is what you make of it, whether you lean into education, regional/national conference involvement, or networking. Here in the Louisville, KY | Southern IN Chapter we consistently hear that the support of peers through our sisterhood is the best benefit. Through job changes and seasons of life, these connections can last a lifetime. In fact, we have members who’ve been active for 20+ years.

  • When are NAWIC events? 

    Following recent feedback from our membership, we’re adding more Tuesday events. In the past, the second Mondays of the month were the most common meeting day. Weekend functions are rare, aside from our annual Block Kids program. You can follow our social media accounts, join our newsletter list, or visit the Events page of our website.

  • Who can come to a NAWIC event?

    Events are open to anyone, unless specifically advertised as “Members Only”. The latter is reserved for our most desirable events, such as the holiday party, or those with limited capacity, such as site tours. During Women In Construction Week (early March) or New Member November, we typically have events geared towards those unfamiliar but interested in NAWIC.

  • How can I stay in the know about NAWIC?

    Communication comes from both your local chapter and the National NAWIC office. Be sure to login to your national account regularly to keep your contact info updated and receive their official communications.
